Janice Colgan from the Trussell Trust’s Food Bank kindly visited the Home Economics department this afternoon to speak to Year 14 Nutrition and Food Science pupils about the issue of food poverty as a local and national issue and the work of the Trussell Trust.
This topic, as part of the new A Level specification, has allowed pupils to further their knowledge of what food poverty is and to understand what is being done to reduce it in the UK. It was brilliant to have Janice discuss local issues and give practical examples of the work of the Foodbank.
