After a cold and very early start last weekend Aimee Russell 8J travelled to Dublin to compete and represent Cambridge House Grammar School in the annual all Ireland Irish Minor Schools Championship at the National Aquatic Centre in the older swimmers afternoon session.
Aimee swam first in the 50m Free. She represented her school very well with a fast swim, coming 4th in her heat and achieving a welcomed personal best 32.59 secs narrowly missing a place to reach the finals.
Up next in the 50m Back where she really did make an impact with a strong heat performance finishing 2nd and a super fast new personal best of 36.79 secs which saw her sail through to the finals. Aimee showed great determination with another excellent performance against tough competition to place 8th overall!
Aimee is surely one to watch for the future!
