Four Cambridge House Grammar School students set off early Saturday morning to represent the school and compete against 60 schools from across the province in the Ulster Grammar Schools Swimming Championships at the Seven Towers Leisure Centre Ballymena.
The morning sessions featured our four Junior swimmers in the 11-14years old category. First to swim were our year 8 girls Abbie McNeilly & Aimee Russell in the 50m back stroke. Abbie finished 41st with a personal best of 52.34 and Aimee finishing in 38.96 and 15th place out of 45 swimmers. Both girls swam next in 50m freestyle event with Abbie achieving a further personal best timing of 41.15 and finishing 49th whilst Aimee completing 50m freestyle in a respectable 33.14 finishing 10th out of 62 swimmers.
Jana Greer representing the Year 9 girls finished 13th out of 31 swimmers in her 50m Butterfly event with a new timing of 35.99 and placing 17th out of 45 swimmers in 100m Individual Medley with a great finishing 1:24.43 time.
Matthew Evans swam strongly in both his next events finishing 10th out of 48 swimmers with a personal best of 39.84 in his 50m breaststroke and a remarkable 4th place in 100m Individual Medley with a personal best timing of 1:17.58
Jessica Wainwright took the baton for the school swimming in the Senior session in the afternoon. Both strong swims finishing 15th in 36.59 in Fly and 11th in 100m IM with a personal best timing 1:28.87.
