The 2016/17 season started on Saturday 3 September 2016 with a home draw against Hunterhouse College Belfast in the new Ulster Schools Super League.
Despite having little experience playing together as a new 1st XI team, they began tremendously well with the majority of possession in the opponents half. Strong attacking work from Emily Anderson helped drive the team into the opposing circle. The CHGS side had many scoring opportunities including several penalty corners however as the half time whistle blew, the score remained 0-0.
Early in the second half the efforts of the Cambridge House team paid off when Ellie McDowell struck a beautiful shot, slotting the ball past the goalkeeper taking the score to 1-0. Hunterhouse came back with fighting spirit, putting pressure on our own defence but Strong defensive work from Chloe Farquhar and goalkeeper Katelyn McCormick denied these attempts keeping the final score 1-0 and giving CHGS a well-deserved victory.
