On Monday the 20th of June, Cambridge House GS pupils took part in their athletics sports day on the sports track and field. With the weather holding up, the pupils from Year 8-11 enjoyed a competitive morning of athletics, challenging for Gold, Silver and Bronze awards. Records broken and competition all round, the CHGS pupils excelled in their participation of the well run event.
Following a successful morning of competition, the CHGS staff and pupils had their BBQ lunch provided by the excellent canteen staff and tuck provided by Mr and Mrs Johnston. With lots of full tummies, the pupils were treated to an afternoon of fun on the school grounds with DJ Glenn Bailey (Ballymena RFC), providing tunes for all to hear, face painting provided by the art department.
The afternoon session began with Year 8-11 football and mixed tag rugby where, pupils had the opportunity to have fun without competition or reward. After the games activities the year groups then competed in a tug of war competition and mixed year group 3 legged races, followed by the much anticipated staff tug of war, won by rugby coaches Mr. Smyth/Mr. Harkness.
A superb day all round, lots of competiton and fun in one day, many thanks must go to all the CHGS staff who were involved and especially to the CHGS pupils who were fantastic all day, well done.
