Key Stage 3 classes visit on a weekly basis, with Year 8 pupils participating in the Accelerated Reader programme. This allows reading to be monitored for both quantity and quality.

Supervised by a qualified librarian, and with opportunities for senior pupils to become library assistants there is never a dull moment!

Each lunch time, junior pupils have the opportunity to attend the Bookworms Club where they can meet new friends, read books, play games and have lots of fun!

There is also an extensive programme of events organised each year to ensure that literacy is promoted at a whole-school level. This includes visiting authors, poetry and writing competitions, an in-house spelling bee competition and story-telling themed days. Other annual favourites are National Poetry Day and World Book Day.
