Cambridge House 1st X1 met Foyle College at the Showgrounds on Saturday 8th October in their second league match of the season in perfect weather conditions. The home team started the game strongly, playing some excellent hockey. The Foyle goalkeeper was kept very busy however the pressure from CHGS finally paid off and captain Jessica Small scored a great goal from a penalty corner.
Against the run of play, Foyle seized their opportunity to score. 1-1 at half-time. The second half was a complete turn around – the CHGS team who had completely dominated the first half, struggled to compete and allowed the Foyle College team to score 3 more goals, bringing the final score to 1-4. This was a very disappointing result for the team who had started so well and the score-line did not reflect the effort put in by the girls.
